NOTES: Bottle @ Pub & Kitchen in Philly
STYLE: Imperial IPA
ABV: 9%
APPEARANCE: Glowing honey
HEAD: Ivory, tight-knit, held on for a reasonable length of time
LACING: Average
NOSE: Surprisingly good malt aroma balances well with the big hop nose. Mostly pine resin from the hops, but a touch of grapefruit citrus hints at the variety of hops used in the brewing of this beauty.
TASTE: Not as bitter or hops-forward as expected. Mostly toasty, sweet malts up front with a touch of pine in the middle and booze in the finish. A delicious brew to be sure, but not what you’d expect from an Imperial IPA.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied. Massive carbonation.
DRINKABILITY: Drinks easier than most Imperial IPAs thanks to a subdued hop profile. Refreshing, but big ABV means this is a sipping beer.
RATING: 3 Hops
