STYLE: Cream Ale
APPEARANCE: Cloudy copper
HEAD: Thin, off-white head that disappears immediately
LACING: None to speak of
NOSE: The nose is dominated by candy aromas. Werther’s Originals, crushed vanilla bean, and cotton candy. There’s enough toasted malt in there to indicate that this is a beer…but not much.
TASTE: While the nose had a touch of beeriness in it, the taste has none. This is cream soda through and through. Vanilla, sugar…a little bit of fruit…maybe strawberries? It’s hard to distinguish all the notes since every sip had me thinking…”when did I order a Dad’s Cream Soda?”
MOUTHFEEL: Despite the minimal carbonation, this is actually a light-bodied beer. Definitely a summer brew.
DRINKABILITY: Don’t laugh…I actually kind of enjoyed this. After an evening of palate-crushing brews, this light, whimsical little concoction bemused me to no end. I probably wouldn’t order more than one, but it was still strangely drinkable.
RATING: 2.5 Hops. Just because it was interesting doesn’t mean it was good. I’m glad I tried it though
